InfoWARE, Africa’s #1 Software Solution was present at the EDC- Enterprise Development Center/ LBS (Lagos Business School) Alumni Event. The objective of the event was to provide platforms for owners, managers and stakeholders (service and technology providers) in the SME sector to come together for access to business information.
Over 37 million (and counting) SMEs currently employ more than 85% of the workforce in the country, however, their contribution to the nation’s GDP is less than 5%. Statistically, 95% of these businesses shut down before 5 years of operation. Funding is a major challenge to small and growing businesses; one of the greatest hindrances to SME funding (and indeed growth) is undoubtedly the inadequate keeping of business records. Even when such records are kept, they are often not available in a format that helps the entrepreneur take informed business decisions. Similarly, investors and funding organizations are not able to make meaningful conclusions with respect to the potential of the business – thus denying such business of the much-needed capital for growth.
To address this challenges for SMEs, InfoWARE (the foremost software provider of ERP solution in Africa) in collaboration with EDC has put in motion the InfoWARE SME Initiative (the deployment of InfoWARE Business Essentials at zero cost to SMEs). The InfoWARE Business Essentials is a sophisticated and yet user-friendly enterprise solution tailored to meet the needs of small and growing businesses.
The vision of the InfoWARE SME initiative is to encourage the use of technology in business processes to increase their effectiveness, business transparency and accuracy which would increase SMEs’ productivity and their impact on the Nigerian economy at large. The initiative would empower SMEs by supporting their daily operations i.e. Record Keeping, Inventory Management, Reporting and Accounting.
At InfoWARE, we believe that SME’s are the engines of economic growth and the forerunners of progress, because who knows, the next Microsoft or Apple could be out there and they need to be supported by technology. Hence, in giving back to the society, InfoWARE has invested both time and resources in the initiative and would make the license to the software free in perpetuity to SMEs in Nigeria.
We have been successfully involved with FATE FOUNDATION for over two years by successfully training and providing our Business Essential application (SME ERP) for free to all participants.
We were pleased to observe that the business owners at the event, already had some knowledge of accounting systems and therefore knew exactly what they wanted from an accounting solution. They, however, expressed interest in joining the InfoWARE Business Essential community where they can interact with other business owners as well as grow their business and ultimately better the economy. A good number of the participants requested an on-site deployment for the application, which was successfully done in less than 5minutes. The event was a success and we are glad to have contributed our part.
